FACT regards factory farming, the raising of large populations of livestock and poultry in confined conditions, as not only inhumane for animals but also as a major factor behind important public health problems, the deterioration of rural communities, and environmental pollution. FACT's response is primarily focused on humane farming and public health and is expressed through research, advocacy and education activities.

FACT is a research-driven organization, beginning new work with extensive reviews of the scientific literature.

We also conduct our own research on farms to develop appropriate husbandry systems and to measure their impact on food safety. FACT's unique approach to humane advocacy demonstrates our commitment to working on farms and with farmers. More…(PDF)

FACT staff are constantly in Washington, DC to advocate on behalf of farm animals and protect the public from the unhealthy consequences of confinement agriculture. We work with Congress, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Codex Alimentarious. More…(PDF)

FACT reaches out to the general public by promoting humanely produced meat, milk, and eggs; monitors and recommends changes to USDA Organic and other production standards; makes presentations at conferences and meetings; and contacts the media. More…(PDF)
